Dallas ISD said a group of middle and high school students got into an argument.

That’s when one of the students pulled out a firearm and fired at the feet of some students… DISD said no one was injured but district police are still investigating the incident

The district encourages parents to take extra precautions to avoid their children having access to firearms…

Ending To A Dangerous Pursuit In Hunt County (Press Release)

December 5th, 2019

On December 4th, 2019 at approximately 10:00 a.m. a Deputy with the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office was made aware that the Department of Public Safety was attempting to catch up to a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed eastbound on Interstate 30.

The suspect vehicle passed the Deputy at a high rate of speed and a pursuit was initiated which continued eastbound on Interstate 30 with the suspect passing other motorists on the shoulder of the road. The pursuit reached speeds in excess of 115 mph until the suspect exited SH 50 proceeding southbound in the northbound lanes. The suspect attempted to turn on to FM 2736 where he failed to navigate the turn and crashed in the ditch disabling the vehicle. The suspect then fled on foot and was pursued by the Deputy along with assistance from the Greenville Police Department. As the foot pursuit continued across a pasture a local homeowner exited his tractor and prevented the suspect from crossing a fence. The suspect was apprehended moments later without further incident. The suspect was evaluated at the scene by AMR and released at which time he was transported to the Hunt County Detention Center.

The suspect was identified as Troyce Landon Jr. a 21 year old male from Glen Heights Texas. Mr. Landon was booked in on charges of Evading Arrest/Detention with a vehicle and Evading Arrest and bond has been set at $14,000.00 for both charges.

Sheriff Meeks stated: “This suspect showed a complete lack of regard for the safety of anyone on the road and this could have gone very different. I am thankful that no one was injured. I would like to thank the Greenville Police Department as well as the homeowner who assisted in the apprehension of the suspect”.

Live Mortar Round Brought Into Commerce Pawn Shop Successfully Detonated

Commerce P.D along with Garland & Fort Hood Bomb Squad, successfully detonated a live mortar round brought into the local B6UP Pawn Shop yesterday.

From the information we have at this time, we can confirm that a lady took this live mortar round into the pawn shop. She DID NOT know the mortar was live. After Commerce P.D was notified around 3 pm they then called in Garland Bomb Squad to assist in identifying if the bomb was live. Garland did believe the mortar was live. The on scene crew then called in Fort Hood Bomb Team where they verified this was a live round.

Fort Hood took the mortar into their custody, eventually taking it to city property off of Ross St in the Norris Community area, where they were able to successfully detonate the mortar.

The explosion was loud and could be heard throughout the city of Commerce, and reports as far as Cumby.

We would like to thank the city of Commerce for their professionalism handling this matter.

Kevin Berry Named One Of Last Nights Victims In Hunt County Shooting

Kevin Berry, 23, was one of the people shot and killed Saturday night at a homecoming party near Greenville. One other person was killed, and 14 others were injured in the shooting. Police have not found the shooter.

Berry’s mother, Nakima Alexander, told WFAA Sunday that Berry was a father of two, with another child on the way.

On Saturday night, he was taking his kids to see their mother, who lives in the area, and stopped by the party afterward, Alexander said.

Berry was an innocent bystander in the shooting, Alexander said. His brother, who was also at the party, held Berry as he died, Alexander said.

Berry grew up and went to high school in Dallas, but didn’t finish school, Alexander said.

A vigil for Berry is scheduled for 7 p.m. Sunday night at St. Augustine Park in Dallas.

A Hunt County Inmate Has Been Charged With Obstruction/Retaliation After Threatening Jail Employees

An inmate in the Hunt County Detention Center has added some new charges to himself. Charles Trent Parrish has made terroristic threats against jail personnel and their families. During a course of the last few days, Parrish has made threats written and verbally. He is charged with two felony counts of Obstruction/Retaliation in addition to his other charges.

“Parrish has been a problem for us ever since he was booked into jail when he assaulted a victim with a machete. This individual is a very violent man and we take all threats against our folks very seriously.” Hunt County Sheriff Randy Meeks

Local Couple Arrested In Hopkins County On Warrants Out Of Hunt County

A local Hunt County couple has been arrested in Hopkins County on charges of (Theft Of Property >$2500>$30k)

Chad & Michelle Tanner have been taken into custody, in Hopkins County on warrants out of Hunt County. The couple was booked into Hopkins County Jail on 9/16/19 for the outstanding Theft warrants issued by Hunt County.

Chad Tanner was once Chief of the Volunteer Group, “Commerce E-Corps” with his wife Michelle Tanner being treasurer of the non profit organization. For a unknown reason at this time, the couple resigned from their rolls in the organization after funds came up missing from the non profit group several months back.

At this time, it is unknown if the theft charges are related to the misuse of funds, while serving on the E-Corps.

Bonds have been set @ $30,000 for both individuals

Barricaded Subject Taken Into Custody After Standoff On Highway 34

On September 14th, 2019 at approximately 6:00 p.m. the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to 2100 N. State Hwy 34 in regards to disturbance in progress. The initial call indicated that a female had been assaulted and the suspect was making threats of killing her.

The suspect, Bryan Lomeli a 27 year old male from Greenville, Texas fled the scene in a white Dodge Durango. Responding Deputy’s observed the vehicle with the suspect still inside on the side of SH 34 a short distance from where the offense occurred. Mr. Lomeli refused to exit the vehicle making threats of harming himself and it was determined during the standoff that he was armed with a knife and an unknown caliber firearm. Deputy’s repeatedly attempted to negotiate with Mr. Lomeli to surrender but it became apparent that he was becoming more agitated and hostile at which point a less than lethal weapon was utilized to gain compliance. Mr. Lomeli was transported by AMR for medical evaluation and subsequently booked into the Hunt County Detention Center on multiple charges.

Mr. Lomeli is also considered a suspect in a separate aggravated assault with a deadly weapon case that occurred earlier on the same date.

Sheriff Meeks stated: “I am grateful that this situation was able to resolved without a loss of life and I commend the Deputy’s for making sure that Mr. Lomeli did not harm anyone else and that we were able to prevent him from harming himself”.

Active Shooter In Odessa #Breaking

ODESSA, Texas — Officials are responding to an active shooter in Odessa.

UPDATE: One suspect dead

UPDATE: Officials stating 30 have been injured, 20 in Odessa and 10 in Midland with 5 casualty reported so far.

Update: Police say a suspect hijacked a U.S. mail carrier truck and is driving around Odessa shooting at random people. The suspect was last seen in the area of 38th and Walnut.

According to the Department of Public Safety, the shooter is in all Gold Passenger car headed from Odessa to Midland.

Several people have been injured including police and civilians.

DPS asks everyone to stay inside.

The University of Texas of the Permian Basin issued the following message:

#Breaking Charles Parrish Has Been Taken Into Custody From A Tip Made To Crime Stoppers

On August 9th, 2019 the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office alerted the public to an active felony warrant on Charles Trent Parrish for the offense of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon after he eluded capture the previous night.

On August 10th, 2019 Hunt County Crime Stoppers received an anonymous tip that Mr. Parrish was hiding in a residence in the 2500 block of Monroe Street in Commerce Texas. The Commerce Police Department was notified of this tip and responded to the location where Mr. Parrish was taken into custody without incident.

Sheriff Meeks stated: “I want to thank for the public for the tips that came in to Hunt County Crime Stoppers in the search for this violent offender. I also want to commend Lt. Clark with the Commerce Police Department for taking swift action to make sure that Mr. Parrish was taken into custody without further incident”.

Wrecker Driver Hit & Killed While Loading A Car On I-20

Louisiana State Police say a wrecker driver is dead after he was hit and killed on the shoulder of Interstate 20 on Friday.

According to a spokesman from LSP, the crash happened shortly before 9:15 p.m. Friday on I-20 near the Ouachita/Richland Parish line.

Per LSP, the preliminary investigation revealed the wrecker driver, 65-year-old Lloyd Moore Jr. of Tallulah, was trying to load a disabled vehicle onto his wrecker on the shoulder of the interstate when he was struck by an unknown vehicle.

Moore was pronounced dead at the scene by the Ouachita Parish Coroner’s Office. Toxicology samples were obtained and will be submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation

#Breaking Hunt County Sheriffs Office Enroute To A Shooting Off Rodeo Dr

Hunt County Sheriffs Office have units enroute to Rodeo Dr off of FM 751 for a caller who states her neighbor has been shot.

HCEMS & Tawakoni South Fire units are enroute to the scene but staging. It is unknown if this is self inflicted, or if he was shot by another person.

Armed Robbery Overnight In Commerce #Breaking

Commerce Police officers responded to a reported home invasion robbery just after 1:30 a.m. Saturday morning to a residence in the 1300 block of Prim Street.

Upon arrival officers found several armed suspects fleeing on foot. Officers gave chase with the assistance of officers from the Texas A&M Police Department.

We have been told 3 subjects were detained, unknown if they were arrested.
