Caddo Mills ISD Extends School Cancelation Until 4-6-2020

Dear Caddo Mills ISD Community,
Out of an abundance of caution to help slow the spread of COVID-19 and to safeguard the well-being of our students, staff and community, CMISD is suspending normal operations until Monday, April 6, 2020.  During this time period, all CMISD facilities will be closed for all functions, including UIL events and facility rentals.

Our administrators continue to work with the CMISD Board of Trustees, health departments, the Texas Department of State Health Services, the Center for Disease Control, and the Texas Education Agency to monitor this ever changing situation.

Last night in an emergency called meeting, the CMISD Board of Trustees took steps to ensure our students and staff are taken care of at this time.  These steps include ensuring all of our employees are paid during the time of suspended operations, and that students are provided meals and other services. Please check our website and Facebook page for more details.

CMISD has wonderful teachers, staff and administrators. They have been working tirelessly to ensure our students are taken care of and will continue learning.  We will be rolling out our at home learning plan over the next few days. Our teachers began reaching out to parents and students yesterday and are compiling responses in order to create an effective and feasible learning plan. We will have a high tech and a low tech option available for all families.

We acknowledge that a school closure creates a hardship on our parents and staff because of work, childcare and other considerations. However, we hope you understand that our efforts in coming to this decision were made with the best interests of everyone involved. We are committed to taking care of our most vulnerable populations.

We hope to look back on this situation in the months to come and think that we overreacted.  If we do, we will be very grateful that we erred on the side of caution. Once again, please see our website for more information and reach out to us with questions at questions@CMISD.org and we will respond promptly.  Have a great day and stay safe.

Suspect Arrested After A Slow Speed Pursuit In Hunt County

On Thursday 3/12/2020 Hunt County Dispatch received a call of a vehicle driving down the roadway with a rear flat tire.

HCSO & DPS units set up along the Eastbound side of I-30 to intercept the vehicle, as it was in the Caddo Mills Area on I-30EB headed towards the Greenville area.

A DPS unit was the first to get behind the vehicle in the area of I-30EB near mile marker 93 in the Greenville area. The DPS officer tried to make a traffic stop on the slow moving vehicle, which refused to pull over.

HSCO units and additional DPS units made it to the area to backup the pursuing officer. The chase reached speeds of 40MPH, eventually coming to a stop on I-30EB @ mile marker 101.

Officers were able to arrest Steven Baltimore without further incident. Baltimore was transported to the Hunt County Detention Center after being checked out by Hunt County EMS. Baltimore was booked in on charges of ‘Evading Arrest Det W/Vehicle/W Prev Conviction Or SBI’ & ‘Driving While Intoxicated 2ND’.

Great work to all of the officers that brought this chase to a safe ending.

Coronavirus Precautions In Place For Hunt County Detention Center

As concerns continue to increase over the spread of COVID-19, commonly referred to as the CORONAVIRUS, the Hunt County Detention Center is taking additional precautions to ensure the safety of staff and inmates.

The Detention Center already conducts a medical screening for every inmate that is brought into the facility but we have added additional questions and screening measures.  Detention Officers will now be asking if anyone brought into the facility has been out of the Country or in contact with anyone that has been out of the Country within the past two weeks.  Additionally, all persons brought into the jail will have their temperature taken and if they show signs of a fever they will have to be medically cleared by Hunt Regional Medical Center before being booked into the jail.

On days of visitation the Detention Staff will implement additional cleaning measures between visitation groups.

Sheriff Meeks stated: “There is a lot about this virus that we don’t know but we are following all the guidelines set down by the Texas Jail Commission and doing everything in our power to protect the staff and inmates”.

Hopkins County Arrest Blogger Nathan’ Narra After A High Speed Chase

Yesterday afternoon Hopkins County officers spotted a Chevrolet Camaro traveling down I-30 Westbound in a access speed of 90MPH. The Hopkins County unit attempted to pull over the speeding vehicle, which took off from officers attempting to evade getting pulled over.

The vehicle took the I-30 service road in the Campbell area around the 104 mile marker, eventually turning up North on Hwy 24 headed towards Commerce. Once the vehicle entered the Commerce city limits, the suspect whipped the vehicle around to head back South on HWY 24, striking another vehicle which was traveling South.

Once striking the vehicle , the suspect continued back South towards I-30, eventually stopping in the area of Hwy 24 & County Road 4216 in Campbell, surrendering to law enforcement without further incident.

One of the suspects arrested is a YouTube Blogger of the channel named “NatesNation”. If watching his Channel you can see several videos of him getting his Camaro ready for the trip to Texas. Narra, a native of Detroit, Michigan fancies himself an internet celebrity and is attempting to make a living posting his life and adventures on various social media platforms. It is unknown at this time why he took off from officers instead of stopping.

Bond was set Saturday at $15,000 for the felony charge of Evading Arrest with a Vehicle, and $2,500 for Reckless Driving.
